About me 🧸🩵

Hey! I’m Brandon Feng, a Year 1 Bachelor of Journalism student at The University of Hong Kong, where I’m exploring the space where media, storytelling, and data intersect.

My journey into journalism didn’t begin with a microphone in hand — it started on the table tennis court. As a former member of the Hang Seng Elite Table Tennis Team, I’ve always been drawn to the intensity, strategy, and emotion behind sport. That passion led me to choose Physical Education as a high school elective — but alongside it, I also studied Information and Communication Technology (ICT). It was through ICT that I became fascinated with how media is shaped, distributed, and how it influences the world around us.

Here’s something you might not expect from a journalism student: I’m naturally introverted. Speaking up isn’t always easy, and I’ve usually felt like I don’t quite fit the image of what a journalist “should” be — bold, extroverted, always chasing the next big scoop. And truthfully, I’ve sometimes questioned if I’ve chosen the right path — Journalism, especially today, can feel uncertain, even bleak.

But what keeps me going is this: I care deeply about stories. I care about the people behind the statistics, the emotions behind the headlines, and the truth beneath the noise. In courses like Data Journalism, I’ve learned how to ask better questions and use tools that help quieter voices — speak louder through facts and empathy.

I may not be the loudest voice in the room, but I’m learning that there’s strength in observation, in listening, and in telling stories with thoughtfulness and heart. That’s the kind of journalist I hope to become — one who brings both accuracy and humanity to every piece. ❤️#WhiteSoulMedia #Sport #HK
